The Drop
People were skeptical when news dropped that trophy room was releasing another Jordan. Rightly so considering the last drop was a disaster. For more on the Trophy Room Jordan 1 check out this article. It is November 3rd and sneakerheads have their PCs locked into trophyroom.com.
Ten o’clock hits and the drop has begun. Customers were placed in virtual queues and when it was time to purchase you even had to solve a captcha. This cut down on bots which meant the real enthusiast could possibly hit. Time is the waiting room was about ten minutes, but when it was my turn I was unable to get a pair.
Around 2 pm there was chatter of another restock. I checked the website and there were pairs available. This time I was able to pick up a pair. It looks like Trophy room learned from its mistakes with the last release.
The Story
During the 1992 Summer Olympics, the greatest basketball team was assembled. This team consisted of Magic Johnson, John Stockton, Larry Bird, and Michael Jordan. This was the first that active professional players competed in the Olympics.
During a practice, two teams were assembled. One team was led by Magic and the other was led by Jordan. Magic’s team went up and the trash-talking between the two began. When Jordan’s team was down by ten points. He took control of the game and led his team to a 40- 36 victory. This win among some of the greatest players to ever play the game solidified Jordan and the “new sheriff in town.”
Putting together a good shoe involves a lot of work and attention to detail. Often time the box is overlooked. This was not the case with Trophy Room 7. The box features an all-blue outside with a red Jumpman that is of great quality. The inside features a card telling the story of this game on one side and a clipboard on the other. Once you take the sneakers out there is a basketball court on the bottom.
Trophy Room did this shoe right to mark the 30th anniversary of The Drea, Team. We get high waulity suead throughout the sneaker with a crimson base and ivory overlays. The neoprene tongue is navy with Air Jordan in gold lettering. We also get gold details on the eyestays, Jumpman logo, and Trophy Room logo on the back. Along with the story of the practice game we get another pair of crimson laces. The sneaker did not disappoint on delivery and quality. After this drop I am looking forward to more drops from Trophy Room.
