After much speculation and rumors, we have a potential release date for the Nike SB x Jordan 4. Thanks to information from @zsneakerheadz we have a mockup and some release information. We can expect to see this collaboration on March 20th with a retail price of $225. The initial colorway is expected to be pine green and sail.
There have been some updates to make this sneaker more skate-ready. There is a chance that this release date could be pushed back to April and we could also see an additional colorway. This will mark only the second collaboration with the Jordan and SB brand.
The Peter Moore Designed Jordan 1 debuted in 1985. It quickly became a staple in every sneakerhead’s rotation. It also was a must-have for skateboarders. The high-top sneaker provided much-needed ankle support and the outsole gave them great traction. Also, the air-cushion technology provided comfort for spending long days mastering ollies, slides, and kick-flips.
It would not be until 2002 that skateboarders would get the first Nike skateboarding sneakers. Nike looked to Sandy Boedecker’s leadership to bring the next brand forward. The SB Dunk solidified Nike’s relationship with the skateboard community. This skateboarding sneaker features a thicker tongue and air cushion technology.
Although skateboarders wore Jordan 1’s for a long time. Jordan and SB did not collab until 2014. In 2014 we got the Lance Mountain x Jordan 1. This sneaker featured a colorway that would fade with wear. Check out this article on the Nike Dunk History for further insight into this unique sneaker.
