Asics and Kith are at it again. This time with the GEL LYTE III x Marvel collaboration. As a kid and even as an adult Marvel comics are my favorite with X-men being a top five comic for me. Reading the comics and watching the X-men animated series on Saturdays was how most of my weekends were spent. The endless battles between Xavier’s UnCanny X-men and Magneto still play in my head.
This year marks the 60th anniversary of Marvel’s X-men debut. To celebrate this Ronnie Fieg founder of Kith and long-time X-men fan has partnered with Marvel and Asics again to bring us another fire collaboration. The GEL LYTE III is set to drop on June 28th.
There will be seven different styles, but there is a catch. Similar to trading cards you don’t know which pair you are getting. The box will be secured in a myalr bag so it feels like opening a pack of cards. They will also come with three pairs of laces and a card for the X-men pair you receive. Some of the materials used include hairy suede, leather, and nubuck.
The pairs draw inspiration from six of the most iconic X-men: Storm, Rogue, Beast, Gambit, Cyclops, and Wolverine. San Diego Comic Con attendees will get a chance to cop a pair prior to the general release. Look for a general release on June 28th at kith.com and Kith retailers.
