Wolverine Fans getting ready for game day by adding this Air Max to your rotation. The Air Max ’97 brings a U of M colorway. They were initially released in ’97 in the Silver Bullet colorway. The Christian Tresser design drew inspiration from the concentric lines caused by a drop of water. The ’97 was the first air max to have a full-length visible air cushion.

The Air Max 97 has been retroed several times with the most recent re-release of the Silver Bullet. Other colorways the 97 has seen include the Nintendo 64, Neon Soul, and London Summer of Love. From video games to college now the 97 is getting a U of M (University of Michigan) makeover.

Maize Nike Swoosh

The yellow and blue colorway was adopted by the university in 1867. There were no specifics as to what shades of yellow or blue so immediately there were different variations. It was not until 1912 that the official maize and blue colors were made official with ribbons showing the exact colors. This new colorway features those famous wolverine colors set against a white upper and midsole. The Nike swoosh on the upper and tongue tag are done in maize. The pull tag on the heel are done in maize and blue as well.

Expect to see the usual features of a 97 with the hidden laces and rugged outsole. The full-length visible air cushions its between the white midsole and white/blue outsole. No release date has been given, but expect a 2023 release with a $175 price tag. For more on the Air Max 97 check out my Nike By You 97s.
