Union is known for their collaborations like the Jordan 1 or Jordan 4. For the the 50th anniversary this Cortez throws a nod to the L.A.’s diverse culture. This collab brings a different take on the classic shoe. With woven textiles, cork material and Nike grind this classic shoe is still a hit.
When you open the box “Know the Ledge” is printed on the paper. Know the Ledge was Union’s photo series where a couple moves throught South Central LA and fall in love. This was also part of the capsule collection which debuted in April. Know the Ledge was also a track by Eric B. and Rakim also featured on the soundtrack to Juice. The Cortez sports woven suede overlays and woven textile underlays. The insole features cork material with “union” throughout. The midsole is a combination of cork and Nike grind. Nike grind uses end-of-life materials such as footwear to repurpose other shoes. The outsole has a serrated bottom with the Nike logo and swoosh.
